Christopher E. Sawin is a Massachusetts family law trial attorney well-known for combining strategic courtroom advocacy with measured, client-centered counsel. Since being sworn into practice, Chris has focused exclusively on divorce and family law. He has litigated hundreds of matters across the Probate and Family Courts of the Commonwealth, earning a reputation for disciplined preparation, persuasive courtroom presentation, and decisive execution when trial becomes necessary. Clients and colleagues alike recognize his uncommon blend of empathy and intensity — a “kindhearted and committed advocate” outside the courtroom, and a relentless trial attorney inside it. When appropriate, he works closely with forensic accountants, custody evaluators, vocational experts, and other specialists to build comprehensive litigation strategies designed to withstand scrutiny at both trial and on appeal.

In addition to representing private clients, Chris is a trained Attorney Representing Children (ARC) and Guardian ad Litem (GAL), and he has been repeatedly appointed as a Special Master in the Commonwealth’s Probate & Family Courts — appointments that reflect the judiciary’s trust in his judgment, integrity, and analytical rigor.

Before founding his practice, Chris served as a Law Clerk to Chief Justice John D. Casey of the Massachusetts Probate & Family Court, gaining firsthand insight into judicial reasoning and decision-making. During law school, he trained under noted trial attorney Professor Hank Brennan, best known for defending James “Whitey” Bulger and serving as Special Prosecutor in the Karen Read trial.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Chris served in the United States Marine Corps Infantry, deploying to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and later with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Iwo Jima. The discipline, resilience, and preparation forged during his military service continue to shape his approach to litigation and client advocacy.
